More Shawls Being Done

This past week, I finished up another Oddball Shawl.

Presenting the "Ocean Fantasy Shawl". So pretty! :)

Now, we have four beautiful shawls ready to give to Knitting Help Forum members who need our encouragement.

Our project is no longer active, but I'm still finishing up shawls as I have time at home.

The Rainy Day Shawl was finished this morning. I just love it!

I still have 7 more to complete, so wish me luck. :)

Another Shawl Complete, and Progress on Others

Our Blossoms of Joy shawl is now finished, and looks amazing. :D

And our Cotton Fields shawl is looking beautiful as well. The cotton yarns are so soft and wonderful.

Our "Sunbeams" shawl has a new name now, because it looks more like a "Sunset" to me! Beautiful.....

"Red" Shawl by Shandeh

Recently, I contacted one of our forum members to get her mailing address. I wanted to send her one of our shawls, because she was going through a difficult time. Unfortunately, she told me she was allergic to wool. I didn't have a single shawl to give her. :(

SO.....I made one by myself, using different acrylic yarns in my stash. I knew that her favorite color was red, so that's the color I went with.

Since our last post, we've started 8 more shawls.

"Purple Paradise" is gorgeous:

Woo Hoo! I actually completed a couple of our Oddball Shawls this week. :D

Here's our gorgeous "Flower Garden" shawl. It didn't need a border or fringe, because it's perfect all by itself.

Our "Magic" shawl looks nice also, even though the color combination is a bit wonky. I'm sure the recipient will still enjoy wrapping up in its warmth.

Shawls Still Going

Our Oddball Shawl project is still alive and well in the Knitting Help Forum.
Luckily, we haven't had that many people that need our shawls, so we're just quietly knitting away.

I am finishing up one of our shawls now for a forum member that needs encouragement....more news on that later.

Here's our current list of shawls:

Five of our shawls have been given to offer our love to friends going through difficult times.
"Worsted Weight", "Purples", "Misty Blues", "Barbie", and "Moonlit Forest".

I am finishing up five more of our shawls at my house right now, knitting the final section, binding off, adding fringe or a crochet border. Those shawls are "Magic", "Flower Garden", "Shades of Pale", "Rainy Day", and "Angel Wings". "Blossoms of Joy" will be on its way to me soon from threesmom's house.

I recently completed "Candy Shop", which turned out to be quite colorful. I'm just waiting for the right person to give it to, since it has a "young and bright" look.

And now, we're getting started on four more shawls. :)

The Barbie Shawl was Given to DQ

One of our forum members recently lost a family member. So we decided to give our "Barbie" shawl to her. We hope that DQ will feel our love in this virtual hug! (The good news is that she is expecting a little one soon, so hopefully her joy will erase her sorrow.) :D

Our Oddball Shawls are Growing!

We are still making Oddball Shawls as a group project in the Knitting Help Forum. They get more lovely each time we make them!

Here's the "Rainy Day" shawl, in progress.....so far it has been worked on by 4 different knitters.

This is the "Blossoms of Joy" shawl, after two knitters worked on it.

"Moonlit Forest" is almost complete now.

"Autumn Glow" has such a nice color combination.

"Shades of Pale" is lovely as well.

And "Flower Garden" is so bright and cheery!

Our other shawls are still needing a good photo session, so we'll wait to post more photos later.

We gave our beautiful shawl to Secksiebrat, a member of the Knitting Help Forum. We wanted to encourage her through a difficult time in her life.

The "Barbie" Shawl

knitknut asked if we could start another shawl, using pink as the main color, so we all agreed. It makes PERFECT sense to start a pink shawl now, because October is Breast Cancer Awareness month! :)
knitknut just finished knitting the beginning of the shawl, and mailed it to Nadja la Claire
(Nadja was the recipient of our "Pretty Purples" shawl, and wanted to return the favor! :)
Nadja la Claire just completed her part on the shawl, and we now have a good beginning!
stagebear added her knitting, using a light pink yarn.
Threesmom used a rich maroon-washed yarn.
Shandeh is using two pink fingering-weight yarns by Plassard ("Tendresse" and "Laser"), held together.

The "Candy Shop" Shawl

Mintdee used Knit Picks Shine Sport, Apricot (looks like butterscotch to me!)
PixieKnits used Lion Brand Microspun in Turquoise, to represent blueberry.
Shandeh used SWTC Bamboo in black to represent licorice, and added "Bella DK" by Universal Yarn and Moda Dea "Dream" in white, to represent cream filling!
Snowbear added her part in a "peppermint" theme, and
Lynn (Snowbear's caretaker) knitted some also.

Our "Pretty Purples" shawl was lovingly handknit by several members of the forum. We decided to give it to Nadja la Claire, to show our love and concern for her. She loves it!

lissalue used a sage colored wool blend yarn
Sanibelle used Dive Butterfly in a nice deep color
Snowbear finished her portion, while undergoing treatment for cancer

Snowbear added more knitting

Our shawls are looking more and more like....shawls! (tee-hee!)

Beckyrhae completed her portion of the earthtones shawl, and has mailed it to snephenie.

I really like how the earthtones look together.

And we have another shawl in progress that is looking like a fairyland! Abbily started it with some Paton's Glittalic in light purple, which has a nice airy look.

Then, jeanius80 added some jojoland quartette color 210-504, a fingering weight merino/cashmere blend, double-stranded.

So pretty!

Fall Shawl Update

One of our shawls has been designated as the Earthtones "Fall" Shawl, and has so far been in the hands of 3 knitters.

Shandeh used Debbie Bliss Alpaca Silk DK in a rust shade.
MaryB used Uruguay DK from Queensland Collection in a nice Moss Green.

And now, beckyrhae is using a DK weight alpaca yarn with interesting earthtones.

This is going to be a lovely shawl.

We have started making 3 Oddball Shawls!

Members of the Knitting Help Forum have been making Oddball Blankets for Charity, and have now decided to make Oddball Shawls to show our love to other members in our forum.

Every day, we share our lives with each other online, discussing our triumphs as well as our disasters. Because of this, we have developed close friendships with other knitters we would never have met otherwise.

Now, we have found a way to surround a hurting member of our forum with a "hug". A beautiful shawl, knit with lovely yarn that will be cherished forever.

To make our shawls, we are using the free online pattern at http://www.knittinggeek.com/howto/shawlworkshop.htm.
It's an easy pattern, which makes a lovely shawl when it is completed.

We are each knitting for 2, 3, or 4 inches, then mailing the shawl to the next person who wants to work on it.

Here is the beginning of the first shawl, started by Shandeh in North Carolina. She used Debbie Bliss Alpaca Silk DK in a nice shade of rust:

This shawl has now been mailed to MaryB in Illinois.

Our second shawl was started by Rennfamily in Maryland, using Encore colorspun in color #7125. She passed the shawl on to Bobi1218 (also in Maryland), who knit her section with Berroco Touche' (50% Cotton, 50% Rayon) in color 7970 Nectar. Very pretty so far!

Both knitters used worsted weight yarn, so I believe this will be our "Worsted Weight Shawl".
